Software Developer

Description

We are seeking a passionate Software Developer to join our software development team in Burnaby. This role is ideal for someone enthusiastic about building innovative solutions and embracing new challenges and technologies. You will be contributing to Harmonic’s comprehensive video streaming portfolio of Video SaaS and Cloud Streaming Platforms.

You will report to the Sr Manager, Harmonic Hub.

You will be based in Burnaby Canada.

Location

Hybrid role – at least 3 days/week onsite at our Burnaby office

What you will be doing:

• Build robust and scalable software-based products to deliver outstanding, high-availability solutions to customers.
• Collaborate with a team of passionate software engineers on full-stack technologies and work with multiple overseas development teams to deliver high-quality work in an agile development environment.
• Adopt best development practices, new languages, and architecture patterns to write well-designed, maintainable, testable, scalable, and secure code.
• Provide support to the SRE team to mitigate production incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Research new technologies, techniques, and third-party frameworks or systems

What you should have:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplines.
• Preferably 2-3 years of experience in building web applications on modern cloud infrastructure
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented design, algorithm design, data structures, problem-solving, and complexity analysis.
• Experience in Java, JavaScript programming languages
• Familiarity with UI frameworks such Angular JS, React JS
• Familiarity with Docker containers, microservices, and Kubernetes orchestration in public and private cloud environments.
• Confidence in working both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment
